sleeptalking: an entrance or intrusion into another’s life?

today, i was sitting in the hospital waiting for my grandpa to wake up, but during his usual soundless slumber (interrupted by a few snores) he started talking in his sleep. all he talked about was radios, yet i still felt i was unwelcome to sit there. what if subconsciously, he revealed something about himself that he wouldn’t reveal in a waking state. then it hit me, sleeptalking is almost the same thing as drunken babbling. both are normally incoherent, disjointed, and generally things that shouldn’t be shared with the public. the only difference is that by getting drunk, we all kind of agree to divulging the embarrassing details of our lives (or creating those details in the process). it’s odd to think that even the most stoic of people leave themselves so vulnerable to intrusion by letting others hear the inner-workings of their minds. what hidden secrets could the world discover while we sleep?
